DMA-CES announces the addition of Juan Castellanos as a Geotechnical Engineer, bringing more than 30 years of experience in soil analysis, foundation design, site investigations, and geotechnical testing. He adds deep technical expertise, field knowledge, and leadership experience to the firm’s growing engineering team.

Mr. Castellanos joins DMA-CES following a distinguished career with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), where he most recently served as State Construction Geotechnical Engineer from 2011 to 2024. In this role, he provided statewide oversight of construction geotechnical practices, including specification development, quality assurance standards, and technical guidance for complex transportation infrastructure projects.

Throughout his career, Mr. Castellanos has played a key role in supporting major highway and bridge construction efforts, helping maintain consistent geotechnical standards across multiple districts. His experience spans the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering, including subsurface exploration, analysis, design, and construction-phase verification.

A licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida since 1993, Mr. Castellanos holds a Master of Science in Geotechnics and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the National University of Colombia in Bogotá. His background combines rigorous academic training with decades of applied engineering practice.

During his tenure at FDOT, Mr. Castellanos contributed to the development and refinement of statewide specifications and construction procedures, including work related to earthwork, deep foundation systems, and mechanically stabilized earth walls. He also supported the implementation of advanced testing methods such as Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) and played a role in advancing digital inspection and documentation practices in geotechnical construction.

At DMA-CES, Mr. Castellanos will support the firm’s geotechnical engineering services, contributing to site investigations, soil characterization, foundation engineering, and construction-phase support. His addition reinforces the firm’s commitment to technical excellence and high-quality engineering solutions.
